Generational Warfare / Promise That Worked

by Jim Tankersley
Generational Warfare: The Case Against Parasitic Baby Boomers - NationalJournal.com

Boomer Voice reply:

A couple of things. Check out the tax rate from mid 60's. You will find leading edge boomers paid much higher rates when we began our careers. Our income taxes during those years paid for the growth of America after the war. Those cheap houses. Our highway system. Utility improvement. Hospitals. Libraries. Parks. Internet development. Space exploration. Look it up Mr. Tankserly.
Consider what you said yourself: Social Security worked for the greatest generation even though these worker/retirees paid in a lot less than they received in benefits.
Social Security was a mighty promise kept to future generations.
When politicians decided the impressive power and strength of that kept promise could be the end of their political strength a sustained fight to degrade, erode and finally end this program was begun.
