Making chemo-hats in November

Well, I've found something to do that gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction. I am making chemo-hats for ladies with cancer. I started doing this for my friend Maddie who lives  in Florida. When she told me she was beginning to lose her hair I told her I would try to make her a few hats to keep her head warm. I made about seven hats but only four of those were good enough to pass along. Maddie started wearing the hats right away she told me.

I took a few photos before I sent them on to Maddie:

Then on Thanksgiving I offered to make chemo hats for my sister-in-law. Because she lives here in Ohio I used a fleece material which made the sewing a lot easier. Coral told me she loved my colorful designs. She picked the hats she wanted and kindly offered to take the leftover hats to Hope's Boutique.  She told me the hats were gone when she checked the donation bin on her way out. I've got lots of fleece and extra time this winter which I hope to put to good use making more chemo-hats. Smiles all around.
