How America Grows

I still believe in the America of Dwight Eisenhower, and Roosevelt. These men knew the meaning of UNITED as in United States of America. Men and women of this era  knew we didn’t survive the great depression because every man and woman was only out for themselves. Eisenhower didn’t go to Europe to save his own skin. He went to prevent  murder on a mass scale. He led men and women like my father in a war to protect members of a persecuted group. And when they won that war Eisenhower came home and led our citizens in the effort to build the USA and make it a better homeland for everyone. Eisenhower saw the need and honestly went about the job of  filling those needs. He was a good man.

Same for FDR who led us into the war Eisenhower won. Before the war America was in an economic depression, FDR saw the need to provide for folks and helped to bring forth social programs designed to help America recover. Most of FDR’s social programs came to end as our  country’s prosperity grew with development of a strong manufacturing base and diminished unemployment. Two programs that came about during this era, Social Security and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. survive and are considered by most folks to be an integral part of our society.

I believe in the America that sought to lift one another.  I refuse to allow folks with unknown motives and means to turn me against values my father's generation fought and died to protect.

History proves this statement to be true:
The exceptional achievement of America grows when our societies enable its members to benefit in ways that would not have been possible on their own.

2017 - take care to hold on to all we value.
