NPR's Ed Gordon interviews Ken Blackwell

On June 9th Ken Blackwell was interviewed by Ed Gordon for NPR Radio. The interview lasts about ten - eleven minutes. Toward the end, Ed Gordon brought up the subject of abortion rights. Gordon said that Blackwell was against abortion even if the woman’s life was at risk, Blackwell interrupted Gordon and answered:
“...medical advances now don’t provide that option to doctors where they have to make a decision between taking the life of the mother or intentionally taking the life of the child.
Modern day medical advances allow the doctor to try to save the life of both. If the baby dies in the attempt to save the life of both of them that is neither immoral or illegal.
I am against the intentional killing of babies and that is what the act of abortion is - and -- Thank God he has allowed us to advance medically where that option is not an option for doctors......”

GOP’s Blackwell eyes Ohio Governor’s Office

In this interview Blackwell uses the present tense to talk about medical choices. He never comes right out and says he would not support the measure (House Bill 228) Tom Brinkman brought before the Ohio Legislature on the 13th of June. I don’t believe Blackwell denies the charge that he would be against abortion even to save a woman’s life.

Which is why I say, Ken Blackwell thinks I should be dead.
