Rebuttal: Cal Thomas

In a far reaching column Cal Thomas meanders from defining compromise, to quoting old love songs, to squashing hope of compromise, to preening his paws on the nefarious claim Republicans have political advantage on health care and national security, to licking his chops at the thought of a winning 2010 election and taking back the White House in 2012.

Whew! I think he got previous on most of those claims.

I want to tell Mr. Thomas that President Obama HAS compromised. Obama could have rammed legislation through when he had a 60 vote majority in the Senate.
But he didn’t did he?
Apparently Cal Thomas couldn’t see the compromise through the haze of hot air.

Next, Thomas claimed Republicans have political advantage on health care and national security. Cal, do you really think we trust Republicans on health care repair? Why would we? Since when have Republicans been the champions of uninsured workers? If they care so much, why didn’t they introduce the legislation when they had the chance? And your claim about national security I will only say - Bush lied, people died and because he didn’t pay for the war your side lost budgetary credibility as well.

As to winning back the House in 2010 and the White House in 2012, I know an old song or two myself, and I pick
"whatever will be will be, the future’s not ours to see...."
